I am a local photographer in Fort Scott, Kansas. I live in rural Fort Scott with my husband and our Bengal, Nessi Roo. Photography has been my passion for many years and I have the experience to go along with it. I live for moments of happiness, peace, love, and faith and I truly believe that my photography reflects that.

I met these two at beautiful Gunn Park yesterday here in Fort Scott. All of the ingredients for a picture perfect session was there, gorgeous trees, decent weather and an absolutely adorable couple. I enjoyed getting to capture Hailey and Jakob's engagement session and I am so excited to shoot their wedding September 2015!! Enjoy a few of my favorites from that session!

Sneak Peek | Pearson=Vows Renewed
Sunday, I got to travel to this adorable little country church to capture a vow renewal. The vows they wrote for each other had me in tears, and this was the first time I had met them. They have been married for thirty years. It is such an inspiration to see two people who love each other so much! Enjoy!

Leaves
Tonight, I went for a drive to scope out some great fall settings for some upcoming sessions. I ended up only making it to Gunn Park, here in Fort Scott, and the leaves are just beautiful right now. I took several pictures but I will only share my favorites.
Not too bad for just messing around. I always love the shots that are accidental. The middle picture is not completely what I was intending for it to look like, but I like the result. Fall is my favorite season, I am positive that I have said that before. It is the biggest time of year for photographers, as well. The bright colors on the leaves during the autumn season provides a wonderful background for all types of pictures.

Practice Makes Perfect...Right?
Going through school and reading blogs of fellow photographers, I was repeatedly told "Practice makes perfect," or "take pictures of everything." For the most part, I have taken that to heart. Today, I really did. I decided to get some shots of my cat playing with her toy mouse. I was not disappointed with the results! I have shared some of my favorites Enjoy!
What do you all think?

The Leaves are Turning!
When I was driving home on my lunch today, I noticed that the leaves on the trees are really beginning to turn and some are even falling. I absolutely love this time of year. I get to see all of my favorite colors splashed among the tress and the ground. The cool crisp weather just adds to perfect serenity of the season. Plus, throw in a little OU football, some hot apple cider (or hot chocolate) and my fuzzy fleece North Face pullover and it really doesn't get much better than that for me.
I have a couple of engagement sessions on the books for this fall and I am ecstatic! The first one is this weekend, if this rain lets up long enough for us to shoot. The couple chose a fantastic location. I cannot wait to get some awesome shots of them along with the beautiful scenery. But I can't spill the beans just yet, it will have to be a surprise until I get the sneak peek completed and posted, so be on the lookout for that on Monday....I hope.
If anybody else is interested in getting a session in while the leaves are turned and still mostly on the trees, get into contact with me soon to get it on the books.
Have a great weekend!

Allow me to introduce to you...
My husband!
You will hear me talk about him a lot and will see his face appear from time to time. He is probably my biggest supporter in my photography endeavor. He is also a great model. One evening, I got a wild hair and decided to practice my bokeh and natural light skills. Joe was mowing the lawn and he was such a good sport and modeled for me for a few minutes. I really appreciate his support and how much he believes in me.
I love how the bokeh turned out in this photo. After I processed it, I decided to try it with the black and white but then I couldn't decide which one I liked better. Black and white just gives it a different feel.

Love & Weddings [SPECIAL ALERT!!!]
I love Love. I can honestly say that is my most favorite thing to capture in my photography, is the love between two people. And when two people are truly in love, it shows, on their faces, by the look in their eyes and even by the smile. It really is amazing.
On my Facebook page, I have a contest running for a free wedding portrait package to one deserving couple and whoever gets the most "Likes" wins the wedding package. When I came up with the idea to give the package away, I thought that it would give me some good exposure and I would be doing something super nice for a couple that may not have been able to afford quality photography on their most special day. But, when the stories started coming in, I just was so touched by the love that some of these brides feel for their future husband and the love that they receive. I then think about my own relationship with my husband and I think about all of the ways that I love him. I just can't get enough of it. It melts my heart to see people that feel the same as I do for my husband, because I am so very happy. I would love to able capture each of these brides special day, but I know that I may not get the opportunity to. So to increase my chances, I want to offer each bride that entered the contest for the free session, 25% off of all of my bridal packages. Below is the wedding packages that I offer.
Once again, the brides that entered and did not win, you are eligible to receive 25% off of any of my wedding portrait packages, however the conditions still apply. Please do not hesitate to get a hold of me if you have any questions. I would also be happy to meet up with you as well.
Always,
Jamie Hixon

Mondays...
Oh it's a Monday, for sure.
I woke up to my husband telling me that my car has a flat tire and that he aired it up but I should probably still go get it fixed. This is also my first day back to work after the wedding and honeymoon, so it was a quick reminder that life still went on, even though I was vacationing. At least the sun is shining today and it's not too terribly hot! We don't have too many more days left of warm weather, winter is quickly approaching.
Does anybody have any thing they would like to see in my blogs, other than the session sneak peeks?
Have a super day!

First Blog EVER!!
Good Sunday morning all! Isn't this a beautiful day?
This is my first blog EVER! I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself. I am Jamie (Alexander) Hixon. I have lived in Southeast Kansas my whole life, growing up in the McCune and Pittsburg areas. I graduated from high school at Southeast High School in 2008. I moved to Fort Scott in 2013 with my now husband Joseph and our Bengal cat, Nessi Roo (Roo, for short).
I have loved photography for a very long time. Growing up, I used to make my younger brother and our family dogs model for me. I have never been able to get enough photography. If I am not taking pictures, I am thinking about it. I would definitely call that a passion, I am always yearning to learn more about photography as well. In school, I tried taking as many photography related classes as possible and even studied some Graphic Design at Labette Community College.
Last weekend, September 20th, I married Joseph. Photos by Jamie then became Jamie Hixon Photography. As of right now, I only do photography part time (I know, that's just terrible) but one day, I hope to be able to go full time. I currently work as a loan officer at a small local credit union.
Please follow my blog, as well as my Facebook page.
